For 50 years, the South Main Alliance has driven collaborative efforts to safeguard and advance Houston’s South Main Corridor. The district is distinguished by a vibrant mix of key institutions spanning healthcare, education, culture, entertainment, and innovation.

We regard South Main as the heart of Houston. To honor decades of contribution by the people and institutions who make up this organization, the South Main Alliance board commissioned a documentary film highlighting the people and the stories of the South Main Alliance.

You are cordially invited to our debut film screening and insightful celebration of 50 Years of South Main Alliance on Tuesday, October 20th. The film screening will be followed by a discussion providing insights into the future of South Main. Panelists include former Houston Mayor Annise Parker, former Harris County Judge Ed Emmett, and Ruth Lopez Turley, Director of the Kinder Institute for Urban Research at Rice University. Shara Fryer, Emmy award-winning journalist, will emcee.
