Critical transportation planning efforts are now underway in the South Main area -- chief among them the
Texas Medical Center Mobility Study
conducted jointly by the City of Houston with collaborative sponsorship by TMC.
Museum Walk/University Crossing/Main Street Project
The long-awaited $4 million project sponsored by the South Main Alliance and Main Street Coalition to enhance the pedestrian realm in the Museum District and Main Street corridor begins construction April 2013.
Healthy Communities
The Center for Houston's Future has published its 2013 community indicators report, a research effort lead by former U.T. M.D. Anderson Cancer Center President John Mendelsohn, M.D., with participation by many SMA stakeholders, including the Kinder Institute at Rice University.

Reliant Park Area:
Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone (TIRZ #24)
has been formed to spur redevelopment of the area around and extending south of Reliant Park. The Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo has acquired 48 acres of the 98-acre former Astroworld site on the south side of Loop 610 between Kirby and Fannin.
